I am a junior at a big university right know majoring in finanical planning. I want to work for a bank doing wealth management…how important is an MBA in the future. I look at most of the job opportunities and saw that most perfer MBA but they aren’t required. Do you think MBA will be required in the future?

YES. But don’t go straight there from college. I strongly suggest you work in as an analyst for two years then go. It will help your application, and the bank you worked for as an analyst may sponsor your MBA so you don’t have to pay.. and you have a job when you’re done already lined up!

I think an MBA will give you a much needed edge. Many companies specifically state they prefer someone with an MBA. Also, this will be good for you to move up within a company. I think for the long run and the future you should go forwward with this because it will benefit you.

Given that undergraduate degrees are replacing high school diplomas as the minimum measure of qualified education in the workforce, I think that having advanced credentials like an MBA will be increasingly critical in the future. However, as others have already advised you, wait a few years; they’re even more valuable if you’ve also got experience to offer.
